This summer, the work for the Porumbacu “SDA-RM Camp” project continued; so a wooden chalet has been erected in a short time. Its surface is of about 45 sqm (ground and first floor), aimed to provide accommodation for the people involved in the more comprehensive works to follow.

The ground floor was divided into a storing place, a room and a small kitchen, while the first floor is aimed to be used as dormitory. Consequently, the roof structure was extended over a terrace, which has been used for meals in open air.

Some areas were levelled, and grass was sown to cover the stony spots that had resulted from levelling the ground.

Also, there were built some toilets, which are absolutely necessary for the organization of any social event on the Camp.

For the youth convention scheduled for the midst of August, a tent with a wooden structure was built, and covered with a tarpaulin, which provided a valuable shelter against both rain and sun.

Considering that the General Conference delegates session is to take place on the camp’s premises in the autumn of 2011, the metal structure for an approx. 800 sqm conference room was acquired, and, also, a complex of modular buildings which can accommodate approximately 160 people.

Along with the obtaining of the documentation necessary for obtaining the needed approvals, it has been worked on the preparation of the ground for the erecting of the conference room and for the adjustment of the accommodation facilities.

We are happy that, by the grace of God, though hardly set up, the camp started up to be even in this summer a welcoming host for a meeting of the SDARM teachers in Romania, for a children’s camp and a larger youth convention; during this convention five precious souls were baptized in the clear waters of the river bordering the premises.

We kindly thank those who chose to morally and financially support this meeting centre project for the large SDARM family in Romania and abroad, and especially for its young people and we are persuaded that the Lord will richly bless their sacrifices.

The decision taken by the General Conference Council to choose the SDARM camp as a place for the next GC session in 2011 makes us happy, and honours us; but in the same time it places a high responsibility on our shoulders as Romanian Union, to finish a large and complex work in a relatively short time. This is possible and performable by the help of God and the support of all the brethren from everywhere, whose heart has been urged by our Heavenly Father to contribute with their means and powers granted to them by the Lord, for the accomplishing of this project.

As far as we are concerned, we do our best to do a well-thought work, with as low costs as possible and highest achievement—so that the result will be a settlement in which efficiency and economy be best plaited with utility and refined taste. And, as the work is progressing, contributions in any form are more than welcome.

We use this opportunity to thank all who yielded to the urging of the Holy Spirit to support the accomplishment of this project by their contribution in work and/or money, and we also thank in advance to those who will choose to do the same from now on, as well as to those who pray for its success.

We pray that the Lord should abundantly reward everybody’s sacrifice and we’ll try to keep you up-to-date in coming church magazine issues, as well as on the web site.
